Smartphone vendors including Samsung Electronics, HTC, LG Electronics and Sony Mobile Communications all plan to unveil new smartphones at pre-MWC 2015 events to be held on March 1. HTC is expected to showcase its new flagship model, the HTC One M9.
In addition to the much-anticipated Galaxy S6, Samsung is also expected to unveil its Galaxy S6 Edge, which will feature a curved display. Meanwhile, Samsung is also likely to launch a new smartwatch, the Orbis, according to industry sources.
While much of the specifications of the HTC One M9 are not yet available, the sources indicated that the model will come with a 20.7-megapixel camera and be available in 32GB and 64GB memory capacities.
HTC reportedly also plans to release a new wearable device, the Petra, in early March. The Petra will come with a 1.8-inch display, running on an in-house developed RTOS platform, the sources added.
LG is expected to launch four new smartphones, the LG Magna, LG Spirit, LG Leon and LG Joy and probably a new smartwatch model, indicated the sources.
China-based Huawei is to showcase its new large-size smartphone, the Mate 7 Compact, which will feature a 7-inch display. Rival vendor Lenovo will highlight its new flagship smartphone, the Lenovo Vibe Z3, said the sources. |
