Seven lawsuits have been filed against Apple by Ericsson in a Texas court. According to the lawsuits, Apple infringed on 41 separate patents and Ericsson wants the sale of some devices to be blocked in the US as a result. The patents cover wireless standards and iPhone features.
Ericsson has reached out to the US International Trade Commission (ITC) to get a sales ban put in place.
These disputes have arisen because Apple and Ericsson were in a licensing agreement until January but a new agreement was never reached. Without an agreement, Apple sued Ericsson for unfair licensing practices and Ericsson has countered with its own lawsuit.
Apple states Ericsson's patents do not cover things that are crucial to phone sales. Ericsson's response has been:
