Sony just announced a new Xperia tablet at MWC 2015. The new Sony Xperia Z4 Tablet is a direct successor to the Xperia Z2 Tablet, as there was no Xperia Z3 tablet announced in between. Instead, Sony had launched the Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact, an 8-inch slate that competes with the iPad Mini.

The all-new Xperia Z4 Tablet retains only a couple of things from the Xperia Z2 Tablet. For starters, the design language is same. You get the same 6000 mAh (22.8 Whr) battery too. And lastly, there's a 10.1-inch display. That's where the similarities end.
Sony Xperia Z4 Tablet
The Sony Xperia Z4 Tablet is a beast in its segment. If you thought that the Xperia Z2 Tablet was thin and light for a 10-inch slate, wait till you find out the dimensions of this device.
The Xperia Z4 Tablet is only 6.1mm thick. That's sick! That's also as slim as the Apple iPad Air 2.
Sony has also reduced the height (from 266mm to 254mm) and the width (172mm to 167mm) of the gadget. Also, the Xperia Z4 Tablet weighs only 389 grams (down from 426 grams) for the WiFi model, and 393 grams for the LTE model.
Under the hood, the Xperia Z4 Tablet has a 64-bit Snapdragon 810octa-core processor, which has 4x Cortex A57 cores clocked at 2.0GHz, 4x Cortex A53 cores clocked at 1.6GHz, and the Adreno 430 GPU. This chipset has been paired with 32GB of flash storage, and has 3GB of RAM.
Of course, one of the most important aspects of a Smartphone, or a Tablet, is its display. And Sony didn't hold back one bit in that area. The Xperia Z4 Tablet comes with a Quad HD (2560 x 1440) LCD panel. Such a high-resolution display makes more sense on larger devices, and not Smartphones.
Sony has equipped the Xperia Z4 Tablet with an 8MP rear camera, and a 5.1MP front facing camera. The device supports WiFi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.1, USB 2.0, GPS with GLONASS, and NFC.
What's a high-end Sony device without its IP rating, right? The Sony Xperia Z4 Tablet has IP68 rating, meaning it is certified to survive underwater, up to a depth of 1.5 meters, for a period of 30 minutes. This is a step up from the IP67 certified Xperia Z2 Tablet. Also, the Xperia Z4 Tablet is dust-proof, with its fancy IP65 rating.
A global launch of the Xperia Z4 Tablet is scheduled in June. The tablet will be available in WiFi and LTE options. Two color options are available - Black, and White. Sony hasn't announced the price of the Xperia Z4 Tablet yet. |
