A SIM from Apple itself might be shipped pre-installed with the iPhone 6s. Sources have told AppleInsider that the tech company wants to use its own SIM in the phone and it also reportedly has plans to increase RAM from 1GB to 2GB. Carrier switching could be easier with an Apple SIM.

There are some downsides to a pre-installed SIM. First, being unlocked could require paying full price. Second, paying regular price could mean sticking with just one carrier permanently.

Carriers are not entirely on board with the idea of an Apple SIM and that means it may not materialize in the end product later this year.
