Notebook ODMs Compal Electronics, Wistron and Inventec have announced their revenues for February, all dropping from a month ago. Wistron's February revenues had the least on-month decline among the three.
Compal's consolidated revenues in February were NT$54.61 billion (US$1.73 billion), down 20.6% on month, but up 10.3% on year, while its combined consolidated revenues for the first two month of 2015 were NT$123.35 billion, up 19.8% on year. Compal's notebook shipments in the first quarter are expected to drop 16-20% sequentially and its revenues in the quarter will be contributed mainly by mobile device businesses.
Wistron's consolidated revenues reached NT$44.9 billion for February, down 8.97% on month, but up 26% on year. Wistron pointed out that its performance will pick up in March, but its notebook shipments are expected to drop 15-20% sequentially in the first quarter, while mobile device products are expected to suffer a 15% shipment decline.
Wistron shipped 1.3 million notebooks in February, down from 1.7 million units in January.
Inventec was also impacted by weak notebook demand and announced revenues of NT$25.63 billion for February, down 14.21% on month and 23.66% on year. |
