Winbond Electronics saw revenues slide 2.7% on month to NT$2.92 billion (US$91 million) in August 2010, as demand for NOR flash and specialty DRAM (SDRAM) memory has slackened recently, according to the company.
On an annual basis, Winbond's sales for August 2010 showed 50.2% growth. The company accumulated NT$21.46 billion in revenues from January to August, a 92.8% jump from the same period of 2009.
Winbond has made efforts to expand sales of its non-DRAM products, reducing its exposure to the volatile DRAM market. In addition to NOR flash and SDRAM, the company also makes mobile RAM and GDDR chips.
Winbond is also looking to develop NOR and SDRAM chips for automotive applications, in a move to extend its market reach beyond PCs and consumer electronics products.
