Jonathan Lin, general manager of Sony Mobile Communications Taiwan, has re-stated that Sony does not have any plans to put its mobile device business unit up for sale, and will continue to focus on developing smartphones, tables and wearable products.
With its technology and brand assets, Sony Mobile is looking to achieve profitable operations in 2015-2016 and reach its goal of having 3-5% operating margins by 2017, Lin said, responding to recent market rumors that Sony is looking to sell off the mobile business.
Sony Mobile aims to ramp up sales of its mobile devices by offering products that deliver innovative designs and a better user experience, Lin stated.
Sony Mobile has pioneered the production of water-proof smartphones for the high-end segment and will extend this application to entry-level and mid-range models in 2015, Lin added.
Sony Mobile will also further strengthen the functionality of built-in smartphone cameras, optimizing on Sony's advanced optical image technology, Lin said. |
