Every member of the UK Parliament will receive an iPad Air 2 and a laptop. The Telegraph reports the 650 MPs are getting 16 GB WiFi+Cellular iPad Air 2 units. In the UK, 209 members of the House of Commons already have iPads. The House of Commons says this hardware will cost $300,000 over five years.
MP Chi Onwurah does not think this move is the right decision since some members of parliament could end up using the iPads to play games and do other inappropriate things.
The iPad Air 2 was chosen because the MPs needed a SIM-enabled tablet with a long life expectancy and future upgrade support. |
