Apple is reportedly expanding its trade-in program to China soon and much of the process will be controlled by Foxconn. Bloomberg reports retail stores in China will begin accepting trade-ins but Apple will never take ownership of the phones involved. Instead, Foxconn is said to be buying them, fixing them, and then putting the phones onto an ecommerce market.
In the stores, Apple customers will still deal with Apple retail employees but the company won't handle the whole trade-in process. Bloomberg reports Apple only plans to offer iPhone trade-ins in China, despite an expansion of that program in the US to include Android devices.
Foxconn may begin selling the refurbished, used iPhones in physical stores as well. |
