MediaTek is mostly known by its entry- and mid-range chipsets and it doesn't have something for high-end smartphones and tablets. The company aims to change that with the newly announced high-end chipset family Helio, which consists of Helio X and Helio P series.
Both series are targeted at high-end devices, but little to no information has been revealed. The only thing MediaTek revealed is the Helio X10, which is a 64-bit chipset with eight Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 2.2 GHz. It includes support for display refresh rates of up to 120Hz and slow-motion video recording at up to 480fps. The latter was already supported by the MT6795 SoC.
More details will be provided in the upcoming weeks, while the first Helio-powered smartphone will arrive in 2Q15. |
