Worldwide sales of semiconductors for February 2015 reached US$27.8 billion, up 6.7% from a year earlier when sales were US$26.0 billion, according to the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA).
On a sequential basis, February sales were 2.7% lower than the January 2015 total of US$28.5 billion, reflecting seasonal trends, SIA said.
Regionally, year-to-year sales increased in the Americas (17.1%) and Asia Pacific (7.6%), but decreased in Europe (negative 2.0%) and Japan (negative 8.8%). Sales decreased compared to the previous month in Europe (negative 1.6%), Asia Pacific (negative 2.2%), Japan (negative 2.3) and the Americas (negative 4.4%).
"The global semiconductor industry maintained momentum in February, posting its 22nd straight month of year-to-year growth despite macroeconomic headwinds," said SIA president and CEO John Neuffer. "Sales of DRAM and analog products were particularly strong, notching double-digit growth over last February, and the Americas market achieved its largest year-to-year sales increase in 12 months." |
