Samsung Electronics is expected to hold off from releasing flexible tablet products sized 7-inch and above in 2015 and instead will focus its efforts on flexible smartphone units, according to a new report from Korea-based inews24.

The report quoted sources from Samsung stating the company is concerned over profitability from flexible tablets and instead will use flexible display technology in 2015 for devices sized below 7-inch.

Samsung holds various patents for producing flexible tablets in addition to foldable devices and will not rule out the possibility of releasing relevant products after 2015, the report indicated.

There will be 221.4 million tablets shipped globally in 2015, slipping 11.9% on year, according to a recent Digitimes Research Special Report.
