After months and months of rumours, various leaks and alleged live images, Sony has finally decided to put an end to that. During an event in Japan, Sony has officially announced its new 5.2-inch flagship smartphone, the Xperia Z4, which features an aluminum frame.

It is known that Sony is having a financial crisis, so they needed a great new smartphone to compete with others. The new Xperia Z4 has undergone a complete redesign with a gorgeous new aluminum frame that is only 6.9 mm thin, weighs 144 grams and has put through a treatment to increase the shine.

Xperia Z4 specifications:

In terms of specifications, it features a 5.2-inch 1080p display that is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 SoC, 3 GB of RAM, 32 GB of internal storage that is expandable via microSD card slot up to 128 GB, a 2,930 mAh battery and runs Android 5.0 Lollipop. In the camera department, the Xperia Z4 features a 20.7-megapixel rear camera that records 4K videos, and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera.

Other interesting specs include IP6 certification for dust, and IP5 and IP8 certified for water. Those who don't know, this allows the Xperia Z4 to be submerged to 4.92 feet for as long as 30 minutes and emerge unscathed, and is protected against "Water projected by a nozzle (6.3 mm) against enclosure from any direction."

Xperia Z4 availability:

The smartphone will be available later this year, sometime during the summer, but there is no word on pricing. Customers will be able to choose between four colors: white, black, copper and aqua green.
