Light is a startup based in Palo Alto, California and it believes it has found a way to boost phone camera quality. The company wants to bring multi-lens cameras to phones. A cluster of small lenses with small sensors would improve picture quality. Light has now partnered with Foxconn and we could see the technology in phones by 2016.

DSLR-like quality would reportedly be provided with this setup. All cameras will fire at the same time and software will combine the images. Light's cameras could also be used in cars, home security cameras, and other devices.

Light plans to have 52-megapixel cameras in smartphones next year. The technology will increase the price of phones by $50-60. Foxconn is licensing the Light technology for mobile devices and it has also invested in the company.
