Philips has announced it is going to use Android TV on the majority of its TVs this year. 80% of its Ambilight TVs will use the software. Android TV will also be used on cheaper HD televisions and there will be 38 TV models running Android TV in the first half of 2015. Android TV is superior to the Android software used on some earlier Philips TVs.

The company has announced some big partnerships during the IFA Global Press Conference. Philips said its TV division, TP Vision, will partner with EA and Gameloft so that some TV users have access to 200 cloud based gaming titles.
