Apple is truly taking over the Chinese phone market and it may beat Xiaomi in that company's home market. Apple is now the second largest smartphone maker in China and Strategy Analytics reports Xiaomi's growth is slowing, allowing Apple to take over. During 2015's first quarter, Apple grew to 12.3 percent, placing it just 1 percent away from Xiaomi.
If Apple keeps reporting the same growth in the Chinese smartphone market, there is no reason it will not become the largest phone maker in China. It shipped 13.5 million phones during the first quarter compared to Xiaomi's 14 million.
The iPhone 6S, 6S Plus and perhaps a third phone are all coming later this year which should give Apple yet another boost in China. Xiaomi and Huawei, the two other largest phone companies in China, are also launching new devices for the market. |
