MStar Semiconductor has completed its acquisition of fellow IC design company Alpha Imaging Technology, according to a MediaTek filing with the Taiwan Stock Exchange (TSE).
MediaTek announced that subsidiary MStar has acquired about 29.89 million shares of Alpha exceeding the required minimum. MStar will continue to acquire the remaining shares.
MediaTek disclosed previously that MStar would acquire Alpha for NT$37 (US$1.21 million) a share. The acquisition will enhance MStar's product portfolio and increase its global competitiveness, MediaTek believes.
MStar specializes in the design of SoC solutions for TVs, LCD monitors and set-top boxes, while Alpha is engaged in the design of chip solutions for TV and web cameras, smartphones, and driving recorders. |
