Gold is one of the top color options for the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge. Enough people have purchased the phones in that color to make them sell out in the UK and other big markets. Gold used to be less popular than black or white (more traditional phone colors), but Samsung says that's no longer the case.

Samsung has said it will increase production to keep up with demand since there are easily as many gold S6 and S6 edge units shipping to customers as black or white units.

Donna Dawson, a lifestyle psychologist, told Pocket-Lint that gold is becoming more popular because the world is coming out of a financial recession and gold signifies "wealth, abundance, high ideals, optimism and wisdom."
