New details regarding the Galaxy Note 5, as well as Project Zen, have emerged. Project Zen is the codename for the successor to the Galaxy Note Edge, as per previous leaks. Samsung may call it the Galaxy Note Edge 2, but there's no way for us to confirm the device's name at the moment.

The new rumor, straight from SamMobile's sources, says that there will only be one Galaxy Note 5 variant this year, and that it won't have a curved edge display. The Galaxy Note 5 test units either have the Exynos 7422 chipset, or the new Exynos 7430 chipset. Also, the rumor says that the Galaxy Note 4 will either have a Quad HD, or a 4K display panel, but it will be of Super AMOLED make.

While the Exynos 7422 is an improved version of the Exynos 7420 powering the Galaxy S6, the Exynos 7430 is said to make use of custom ARM cores. It is most likely that the Galaxy Note 5 will be powered by the Exynos 7422, since the custom ARM core based Exynos won't be ready until next year.

Having said that, the Exynos 7422 won't be a minor upgrade. The chipset is rumored to be Samsung's first SoC with the CPU, GPU, RAM, storage, and modem, all on the same chip. Now that would be a fully integrated solution.

Let's talk about Project Zen now. The latest rumor says that Project Zen won't be just a Galaxy Note 5 with curved edges. Instead, Samsung might go for a smaller device, with a different set of specifications. Project Zen is said to be using the Snapdragon 808 chipset, coupled with a 5.4" or 5.5" Super AMOLED dual-edge curved display, 16MP rear camera with OIS, 8MP front camera, and 16GB internal storage.
