Acer's president of Pan-Asia Pacific Regional Operation Oliver Ahrens pointed out that the company is looking to become the third-largest notebook vendor in India in two years and in addition to brand promotions, the company is also expanding its sales channels in the country and strengthening its partnerships with local retailers.
With India's economy starting to grow strong, Acer has taken a more aggressive approach to its operation in the country. Currently, Hewlett-Packard (HP), Dell and Lenovo were the top-3 PC vendors in the country and Acer is the fourth largest.
Since PC products only have about a 20% penetration rate in India and demand for PCs from the country is growing rapidly, the market is still filled with opportunities for PC vendors.
As for China, Ahrens said that he is not satisfied with Acer's performance in the country and the company only has about 7-8% share in the country's notebook market. For the future, Acer will focus on raising the share to a double-digit percentage, but Ahrens has not given a schedule for reaching the goal.
Acer started a new promotion activity in China in 2014 and is bringing products to small cities by bus for consumers to experience the products. Acer achieved good results with the idea and plans to expand the promotion in 2015. |
