Apple was the top smartphone company in all of China during the first quarter of 2015. IDC's report on the Chinese market shows Apple came in first with 14.7% of the market while Xiaomi, a Chinese company, trailed Apple with just 13.7% of the market. Huawei, Samsung, and Lenovo followed those two phone companies.

During that quarter, 98.8 million smartphones were sold in China. That's the first time in six years that the market has shrunk. China is still largely considered an emerging market for phones but growth is slowing.
Apple's largest global competitor is Samsung yet it only had 9.7% of the market in China. Beating local brands like Huawei and Xiaomi is a larger accomplishment for Apple. |
