TV sales in China during the May 1 one-week holiday period reached 3.51 million units. generating revenues of CNY13.9 billion (US$2.24 billion), and representing on-year declines of 8.4pp and and 6.6pp, respectively.

However, during the first quarter of 2015, TV sales reached 12.33 million in the China market, representing a 13pp on-year increase. Revenues reached CNY40.4 billion, up 10pp on year.

Hisense reported CNY7.53 billion in revenues during the first quarter, up 9pp on year, while Changhong reached CNY13.7 billion, up 9.4pp on year.

Online purchases of TVs are increasing in China's third- and fourth-tier cities, according to China-based research firm AVC, adding that TV sales in the China market are expected to reach 44.73 million in 2015.
