With the recent announcement of the MX4i and the upcoming MX5 smartphone launch, Meizu is getting rid of its old devices. However, the MX4 Pro was announced six months ago and is unknown why the company is allegedly discontinuing the smartphone already.

That this isn't just another rumour confirms large price cuts in China. Previously, the smartphone was selling for CNY 2,499 (around $400), but now customers can purchased it for CNY 1,999 (around $320) and it will probably be an even cheaper later this year if it doesn't sell well.

The only reason behind this could be in the use of Samsung's Exynos chipset. Those who don't see a reason why this could be a problem probably don't know that MediaTek recently invested in Meizu, and probably one of the terms was only to use MediaTek's chipsets.
