Meizu MX4 Ubuntu Edition was expected to launch tomorrow, but the company has decided it can't wait and has launched it today. The Ubuntu-running edition of its MX4 smartphone is available in China in white or cold and is priced at the equivalent of $290.

Except it runs the Ubuntu Touch operating system, the rest of the specs are the same as the normal MX4 smartphone, including a 5.36-inch screen with a resolution of 1,152 x 1,920 pixels, MediaTek MT6595 chipset with an octa-core 2.2 GHz CPU and PowerVR G6200MP4 GPU, 2 GB of RAM, 16 GB of non-expandable memory. A 20.7 MP rear camera is included along with a 2 MP front unit, while a 3,100mAh battery keeps the phone running.
