Contract prices for DDR3 dropped by 6-9% in early October 2010 due to continued oversupply, and consequently contract prices for 2GB DDR3 modules are expected to fall to below US$30 sooner or later in the fourth quarter, according to industry sources in Taiwan.
For some large-volume 2GB DDR3 module transactions, prices dropped to below US$30, the sources said.
DRAM makers generally expect that DDR3 contract prices will remain at low levels until the end of 2010 and may rebound in first-quarter 2011 due to demand from China ahead of Chinese New Year in early February, as well as PC replacement demand, the sources added.
