Chromebook sales are rising this year and a new forecast from analyst Gartner says Chrome OS laptops will reach 7.3 million global sales this year. That would result in sales growth of 27% year-on-year. Chromebooks are becoming more popular and are viewed as a cheap, efficient computing option in the education and budget markets.
Gartner has increased its forecast for Chromebooks after underestimating them in 2014. The analyst had expected the devices to remain a niche market with 5.2 million sales in 2014. There ended up being 5.7 million sales.
Education accounts for 72% of all Chromebook sales. |
