Sony will re-brand the Xperia Z4 as the Xperia Z3+ when the phone is released globally next month. The Z4 is currently available only in Japan and its name will change once it expands beyond that market. Sony has only slightly altered the device for its global release.

No core parts of the device have changed. It still has a 5.2-inch Full HD display, 20.7-megapixel camera, and similar color options. Sony has slimmed the phone down to 6.9 mm from 7.3 mm and that has left the phone with a smaller battery.

The Xperia Z3+ remains waterproof but Sony was able to get rid of the flap that was covering the micro-USB port. Sony has included a Snapdragon 810 processor with Adreno 430 graphics, 3 GB of RAM, and a microSD card slot in the phone. Sony has confirmed the phone will ship with Android 5.0 Lollipop.
