Xiaomi Technology reportedly will adopt MediaTek's Helio X10 (MT6795) 8-core processors in two new smartphones slated for release in the third quarter of 2015, according to a Chinese-language Economic Daily News (EDN) report.

Production of the first model, which is believed to be the Hongmi (Rice Rice) Note 2, will begin in early third quarter. The second model, which is likely to sport a metal case and is designed for the high-end segment, will enter volume production in September, said the paper.

Xiaomi aims to ship over 100 million smartphones in 2015, up from over 60 million units shipped a year earlier.
