MediaTek has launched its Helio P10 processor, a model that is between the X10 and the X20. This is the first "premium performance" model and it includes eight cores and faster LTE. There are eight 64-bit Cortex-A53 2 GHz cores in the SoC. Since the cores aren't A57s, performance will be slightly lower but battery life will be saved.

The SoC includes a 700 MHz dual-core 64-bit Mali-T860 for graphics. LTE Cat 6 support for up to 300 Mbps down and 50 Mbps up is included. An integrated TrueBright ISP engine will support ultra-sensitive RWWB optical sensors that can capture "twice as much light as traditional RGB sensors."

Device makers won't need to include dedicated audio chips in their products running the P10 since it has HiFi audio rated at 110 dB SNR and -95 dBTHD. MediaTek's MiriVision 2.0 also brings 60 fps full HD video support to the table.

The P10 is shipping in Q3.
