MediaTek has announced consolidated revenues of NT$15.31 billion (US$495.2 million) for May 2015, up 1.3% on month but down 20.7% on year.

MediaTek's revenues in the April-May period already reached NT$30.4 billion, or 62-67% of the company's target revenues for the second quarter.

MediaTek estimated previously that revenues would increase up to 3% or decrease up to 5% on quarter to NT$45.2-49 billion.

MediaTek president Hsieh Ching-chiang noted recently that customer demand started picking up in May and has strengthened since June. Hsieh also expressed optimism about MediaTek's performance during the third quarter of 2015.

Previous reports quoted market sources as saying that a recent ramp-up of chip orders for 4G smartphones would help MediaTek meet the mid-point to high-end of its sales guidance for second-quarter 2015.

MediaTek's revenues totaled NT$77.96 billion for the first five months of 2015, slipping about 7.7% from a year earlier.
