AT&T and Samsung have officially announced the Galaxy S6 Active. Details regarding the ruggedized version of the Galaxy S6 were leaked last week, only an official announcement was left to be made. The Galaxy S6 Active will be available exclusively via AT&T.

The Galaxy S6 Active is dust- and water-proof, with its IP68 certification. It's specifications include a 5.1-inch Quad HD (2560x1440) Super AMOLED display, 64-bit Exynos 7420 Octa SoC, a 16MP rear camera, 5MP selfie camera, 32/64/128GB storage options, and a massive 3500mAh battery. Oh boy do Galaxy S6 owners wish they had a chunk of that. Finally, the software is Android 5.0.2 Lollipop with the latest TouchWiz onboard.

The Galaxy S6 Active can take a beating. It's been designed such that it meets military standards for surviving impacts with hard surfaces. Of course, this causes a penalty in the device's design, a trade-off that many might be willing to make for the extra protection.

AT&T is offering the Galaxy S6 Active in three colors - White, Blue, and Gray.
