Quanta Computer's notebook shipments reached 3.4 million units in May, up 6.25% on month from 3.2 million units in April. Since Quanta's notebook shipments are estimated to grow 10% sequentially to reach 10.89 million units in the second quarter, the ODM is expected to ship 4.29 million notebooks in June.

As for the second half, although Windows 10 is scheduled to be released at the end of July, whether the new operating system is able to attract consumers to purchase new PC devices still remains questionable as Microsoft is allowing consumers to freely upgrade their existing PCs to Windows 10, making purchasing a new PC no longer the main route to acquiring Windows 10, according to some market watchers.

Currently, Quanta still has about 70% of its revenues contributed by the notebook business and with demand for notebooks expected to remain weak in the third quarter, the company is expected to face some pressure on its notebook business, the market watchers noted.

However, the company is seeing its non-notebook product lines growing strong and its 14.1% on-month revenue growth in May was mainly contributed by Apple Watch orders, the market watchers noted.
