At least a few smartwatches from LG and Samsung are vulnerable to privacy invasions. Researchers at the University of New Haven conducted a study that focused on the original G Watch from LG and the Samsung Gear 2 Neo. It was found that private data was easily accessible on both since neither have data encryption.

The researchers collected email addresses, contacts, pedometer data, and calendar data from the G Watch. Information from the health, email, messages, and contacts apps was available on the Gear 2 Neo.

To find all of this data, the researchers only had to search through the watch's onboard storage. More smartwatches, including the Apple Watch, are part of the study and the results of the full study will come out in August.
