BlackBerry's sales haven't been good for a while and they were particularly poor last quarter. The company only managed to sell 1.1 million devices during the entire last quarter and that resulted in a loss of $28 million on $658 million in revenue. Wall Street only expected a loss of 3 cents a share but BlackBerry reported a loss of 5 cents.

Hardware continues to be BlackBerry's primary source of revenue even though smartphone sales aren't great. Smartphones made up 40% of the company's revenue, services made up 38%, and software accounted for 21%.

BlackBerry believes it will turn a profit sometime in fiscal year 2016. Reports have said BlackBerry is considering a release of at least one Android device with the intention of increasing sales.
