BlackBerry is officially considering the development of an Android phone. John Chen, the company's CEO, revealed BlackBerry is looking into Android but there are no finalized plans to build a device running Google's mobile operating system. Chen said on Bloomberg TV that making Android secure would be a top priority.
Reports from the past few weeks had suggested BlackBerry was either considering an Android phone or had already begun making one. Chen's interview on Bloomberg confirms those reports.
Chen's statements suggest BlackBerry has yet to figure out if Android can be made secure enough for a BB device. |
