Sony Mobile Communications and Huawei have both recently launched their latest products in Taiwan and are looking to expand their presence in the local market.

Sony Mobile, which held a 25% share of Taiwan's high-end Android smartphone market, is expected to be able to further ramp up its market share, buoyed by the launch its flagship Xperia Z3+ and the mid-range Xperia M4 Aqua Dual, according to industry sources.

The Xperia M4 Aqua Dual will be the focus of Sony Mobile's marketing efforts in the local market in 2015 as the model is Sony Mobile's mid-range smartphone that supports IP65/68 standards, said Jonathan Lin, general manager of Sony Mobile Taiwan.

Sony Mobile also expects its Xperia Z3+ to boost its share in the high-end Android segment to 40% in 2015, Lin said.

Meanwhile, Huawei will begin to sell its new tablet, the MediaPad X2, in the local market in July. The dual-SIM MediaPad X2 targets the business sector.
