A leaked image of the iPhone 6s motherboard suggests that Apple will be employing a new LTE model from Qualcomm. The new modem will double LTE download speeds on the next iPhone, due to be launched later this year.
The Qualcomm MDM9635M modem supports LTE Cat. 6 connectivity, having a theoretical max download and upload speeds of 300Mbps and 50Mbps respectively. The new modem from Qualcomm, also called the 9X35 Gobi, will reduce power consumption and heat emission. All this will enable the iPhone 6s to have a slimmer design and better battery life.
The Apple iPhone 6s (and iPhone 6s Plus) is rumored to come with ForceTouch, the new Apple A9 chipset, and a bigger battery. iOS 9 will be available at launch, which is expected to take place in September this year. |
