Asustek Computer is bullish about its smartphone sales in the China market in 2015 as it aims to become one of the top-10 smartphone vendors there, the China-based sohu.com quoted Wang Yong, vice president of handset business, Asustek China, as saying.
Asustek aims to ship 20-30 million smartphones or 2-3% of global shipments in 2015, Wang noted, adding that sales in China will make up 20-25% of Asustek's total projected shipments in the year.
Wang made the remarks on the sidelines of a product event held in Nanjing recently, during which Asustek unveiled its new Pegasus 2 Plus, a 5.5-inch model designed for the China market exclusively.
When asked if it will be too late for Asustek to step up marketing efforts in China since the market has become mature recently, Wang claimed that sales of Asustek's smartphones are just beginning to take off and it is never too late.
The Pegasus 2 Plus features a Qualcomm Snapdragon S615 CPU and 13-megapixel main camera, supporting fingerprint identification technology. The model will be available in two versions - 2GB RAM/16GB ROM and 3GB RAM/64GB ROM.
The Pegasus 2 Plus is designed by local solution vendors and handset OEMs in China and is fine-tuned for optimal performance by Asustek's own design department, said the report.
Asustek will cooperate with China-based telecom operators to promote the Pegasus 2 Plus, while marketing its ZenFone models through open channels and Internet, added the report. |
