Qualcomm's business practices in the processor industry are being investigated by the European Union (EU). The European Commission has launched two investigations into Qualcomm since it is believed the company may have used its market position to force its chips on more customers. Qualcomm is currently the largest manufacturer of "baseband chipsets" and its chips are used in tons of mobile devices.
One investigation will examine Qualcomm's sale of 3G and 4G chips. Qualcomm may have paid customers to exclusively use its processors.
The other investigation deals with pricing for 3G chips. Qualcomm may have used "predatory pricing" to sell without a profit in order to beat competitors.
