Uh oh! Qualcomm's Snapdragon 820 SoC might be in trouble. There's a new rumor that Qualcomm's next chipset might have the same overheating issues that are present on the Snapdragon 810. We have already heard enough about the Snapdragon 810 overheating issue, but the possibility of having an encore with its successor might prove detrimental to Qualcomm's business.

Rumors about Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 overheating issue were sparked by a tweet from Ricciolo, a reliable tipster who tweeted yesterday that the SD810 successor doesn't fix "HEAT ISSUES" and that we would have to wait for the Snapdragon 830 for the heat issues to be "partially" fixed.

The Snapdragon 820 SoC reportedly packs a quad-core CPU block, which is made up of Qualcomm's custom 64-bit Kryo architecture based processors. The new SoC might offer clock speeds of up to 3GHz. Earlier, a Chinese analyst reported that Qualcomm will begin shipping the Snapdragon 820 SoC at the end of 2015, and that the Xiaomi Mi 5 will be the first handset based on the new chip.
