Snapdragon 810 is definitely a big miss from a Qualcomm. Due to big problems with overheating, manufacturers had to throttle the chipset which means lower performance. Samsung did a great job with the latest Exynos SoC and Qualcomm is in small problems now.
The company has put a lot of efforts into Snapdragon 820 and hopes to return with it to the top. There are not many details about the SoC, aside from the rumoured custom "Kryo" cores with a quad-core architecture. The CPU will be paired with an Adreno 530 GPU clocked at 650 MHz, and will support LPDDR4 RAM, 4K video decoding @ 60fps, 4K video encoding @ 30fps, and LTE Cat.10 on-board.
Those are all rumours, but some if not all should be confirmed next week, on August 11, when Qualcomm could announce the Snapdragon 820. |
