The Android One smartphone lineup was designed to bring affordable handsets with decent specifications and stock Android operating system, but the project hasn't met expectations. Google has hit the reset button and plans to release a sub-$50 smartphone.
The new Android One will be unveiled in "the next few weeks" according to the company's managing director in Southeast Asia, Rajan Anandan. Aside from the sub-$50 target, the company will also release new apps and services that should improve the experience, such as offline YouTube and Google Maps.
We would like to see the new Android M operating system included, but we'll have to wait to see what Google's intentions are. |
