Suppliers in Taiwan's handset supply chain are expected to see their sales rebound in August-September as smartphone vendors including Apple, Samsung Electronics, Sony Mobile Communications and Microsoft Mobile are set to release new models for the latter half of the year, according to industry sources.

Sales for most makers in the handset supply chain were flat in the second quarter, affected by a slow growth in the smartphone market as well as off-peak season effects, said the sources.

Shipments of new iPhone devices are expected to begin at the end of August and will gain momentum starting September to the first quarter of 2016, indicated the sources.

Apple will continue to outsource the production of the new iPhone devices to Foxconn Electronics and Pegatron, said the sources.

Samsung is likely to release in advance its new flagship model in August instead of September as originally planned. At the same time, the Korea-based vendor will also roll out its Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge Plus, and both models will feature a 2K 5.7-inch display, in-house developed Exynos 7420 CPU and a 16-megapixel camera.

Sony Mobile will launch its C5 Ultra and Xperia M5 in August, both targeting over US$400 mid-range segment. The C5 Ultra, which is manufactured by Arima Communications, comes with a 6-inch Full HD display and a 13-megapixel main camera. The Xperia M5, which is being outsourced to Foxconn Electronics, will sport a 5-inch Full HD display, 21.5-megapixel rear camera and a 13-megapixel front-facing camera.

Sony Mobile plans to roll out its next generation flagship, the Xperia Z5, in September, said the sources.

Meanwhile, Microsoft plans to release its first Windows 10 Mobile-based flagship model in October. The new flagship is expected to come with a 2K display, Pureview camera and dual SIM cards, revealed the sources.
