Sony has told VAIO PC owners not to immediately upgrade to Windows 10 since it still needs to release driver and system updates. The VAIO business is no longer Sony's, but Sony is still required to support existing computers. PCs will "eventually" receive the necessary updates in the Fall, so users should hold out until then.

The system updates need to be created and tested with Windows 10 before Sony will feel safe telling people to make the switch. Technically, all Windows 8.1 and Windows 7 PC owners will be eligible to upgrade to Windows 10 for free this year.

VAIO computers that shipped with Windows 8.1 should be updated in October and those that shipped with Windows 8 should be updated by November.
