Google's Project Ara smartphone was on hold for a while and just recently the whole project got restarted. The company has posted a message on its official Twitter account, saying the customizable Project Ara smartphone is delayed for sometime in 2016.

The phone was expected to have a real world test in Puerto Rico, but that also won't happen. Google is currently in the process of scouting "a few locations in the US" and the main reason for the delay is "Lots of iterations... more than we thought."

Project Ara is a modular smartphone that allows users to customize its smartphone rather than replace the whole device. This would allow some users to use a bigger battery, better processor or camera, etc.
