Asustek Computer will be able to reach its goal of shipping up to one million units of the new ZenFone 2-series smartphone in Brazil in 2015 and aims to ramp up its shipments to three million units in 2016, according to company CEO Jerry Shen.

Shen made the remarks as the company launched three models of its ZenFone 2 family products: the ZenFone 2 Deluxe, ZenFone 2 Laser and ZenFone Selfie in Sao Paulo on August 21.

The high-end ZenFone 2 Deluxe, which features an Intel Atom Z3580 CPU, 5.5-inch IPS display, 13-megapixel main camera and 128GB ROM/4GB RAM, is available at BRL1,999 (US$578).

The ZenFone 2 Selfie, which sports a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 CPU, 5.5-inch IPS display and dual 13-magepixel camera, is available at BRL1,299, while the ZenFone 2 Laser, which is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 CPU and 5-inch 720p HD display is priced at BRL899.

During the product event, Asustek also showcased a series of handset accessories, including ZanFlash lights, View Flip covers, ZenEar headsets and ZenPower mobile power chargers.

Asustek began to market its ZenFone smartphones in Brazil in October 2014 and currently accounts for a 2-3% share in the local smartphone market. Asustek aims to ramp up its share to 3-5% in 2016, Shen said.

Asustek is outsourcing production of its ZenFone family smartphones sold in Brazil to Foxconn Electronics' local plant.
