The iPhone 6s will reportedly come with a 12-megapixel camera. A source on Apple's supply chain has told Business Insider that suppliers are being ordered to produce lenses that will work with 12-megapixel camera sensors. The camera components are already in mass production and are on schedule.

For months, reports have said the next iPhone will include a camera with a higher megapixel count. The iPhone 6 and 6 Plus both used 8-megapixel cameras and the iPhone iSight camera is considered to be one of the best smartphone cameras available.

The new 12-megapixel cameras for the upcoming iPhones may only cost $1 to produce.
