IC design service provider Faraday Technology is expected to see sales generated from USB 3.0 IP products grow substantially to account for more than 10% of its overall revenues in 2011, buoyed by shipments of new products from its customers including Fresco Logic, according to market sources.
Fresco Logic will launch its second-generation USB 3.0 host controller dubbed FL1009 soon, with volume shipments set to begin in the first quarter of 2011, the sources indicated.
In addition, rising USB 3.0 device controller shipments by subsidiary Innostor Technology has also boosted Faraday's sales generated by its USB 3.0 IP, the sources said.
The sources expect Faraday's revenues for 2010 to top NT$6 billion (US$197.3 million), up more than 30% from 2009. In addition to contributions from USB 3.0 host and device products, the company has also enjoyed growing demand for ASIC solutions.
Faraday's revenues for the first 10 months of 2010 totaled NT$5.29 billion, showing 22.6% growth from a year earlier.
