IDC's latest report on Apple says the company shipped 3.6 million Apple Watch units during the second quarter of 2015. With just one wearable of its own, Apple was the second largest wearable maker during the quarter. Fitbit came out ahead of Apple with 4.4 million devices shipped.

The high shipment figures were able to help the overall wearable industry, according to IDC. Total shipment volume increased 232.2% compared to the same quarter last year.

In the "smart wearables" category, Apple comes out on top. Smart wearables are those that can run third-party apps. In that category, Apple was responsible for two out of every three wearables shipped.
