Samsung Electronics has met with three major telecom operators in Korea to introduce its upcoming 18-inch tablet, which will enter mass production in the fourth quarter of 2015, according to Korea media reports.
The operators include SK Telecom, KT and LG U+ in Korea, who were reportedly briefed on the upcoming tablet rumored to be sized 18.4-inch. Samsung will aim to meet ongoing demand for larger-screen tablets meant for commercial use as well as to meet growing demand for video watching on larger screens, the reports added.
Apple meanwhile is expected to release a 12.9-inch iPad in the second half of 2015. Both of the companies' strategies come as the overall tablet market is on the decline, which many market observers believe is due to the rise of larger-size smartphones. |
